Sweltering Saturday looms as NGCP outage to hit three cities

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Residents in three cities are in for a sweltering weekend as the power transmission firm shuts down its major line Saturday, 24 April that will cause outages of up to 12 hours.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), in an advisory posted by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) on its Facebook page, confirmed it is is scheduling a shutdown of its Bacolod-Silay 69kV transmission line (TL).

NGCP said the shutdown “is in connection with the Cebu-Negros-Panay 230kV backbone project.”

The 6am to 6pm brownout will affect northern and eastern villages here covering a large oart of residential subdivisons.

The affected feeders and the subdivisions under it that will experience 12-hour brownoutsare as follows:

NGCP added: “Electricity consumers are further advised that, in the event of any power interruption, electrical switch/es should be turned-off for safety reasons. When electricity supply resumes, please provide allowance of about 10-15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid power surge.
