BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A shotgun-wielding school principal allegedly shot a teacher-couple in the southern Negros Occidental town of Hinobaan and was himself killed, an incident that could have been triggered by a complaint filed against the suspected shooter.
Mayor Ernesto Estrao told DNX in a phone interview he was told suspected shooter Warren L. Escosar received a notice days before the incident thst a complaint was filed against him for alleged mismanagement of the Senior High School Uybico Bilbao, which he heads as principal.
It is not yet clear if the victims, Alvarisa A. Aroy and her husband, Christopher, are the complainants before the 8888 Citizens Complaint Center.
The police said they received the information about the incident around 8:30am today, 12 April 2022.
Policemen arrived to see three dead bodies outside the school in Pook sub-village.
Estrao said the suspect reportedly used a shotgun but it remains unclear if Escosar turned it on himself.
Police prober Francisco Sabanal Jr. said they have yet to establish the motive behind the crime.
Hinobaan, around 200 kilometers south of here, is famous for its beautiful beach fronts.
