Rise above fear: DNX to host first-ever virtual townhall on COVID19

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The Paper will host an urgent live broadcast tomorrow on the COVID19 as it continues to spread and as developments unfold swiftly over the disease that has prompted President Duterte to declare a community quarantine over Metro Manila, the political and economic center of the country.

Top city officials and their deputies will form part of a panel to discuss the practical steps that must be taken by Bacolodnons to arrest the spread of the virus that has led to five deaths so far in the country.

Seasoned community reporter and investigative journalist, now DNX Executive Editor Julius D. Mariveles will moderate the discission and interview the expected guests – Cong. Greg Gasataya, Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice-Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Jose Maria Vargas, and government physician Grace Tan.

Familiaran heads the local COVID19 task force while Tan is its spokesperson.

Vargas is the executive assistant who heads the cluster on disaster and risk reduction.

“The show is not about the politics over the disease but a contribution of DNX to the public discussion on the health crisis; our purpose is to inform people, to provide a platform for us to gather and reason together,” Mariveles said.

The show, titled: Going beyond fear, uniting in crisis, streams live on the DNX Facebook page starting 10am, Philippine Standard Time, tomorrow, Saturday, 14 March.

The public can participate in the livestream by posting questions on the Facebook page or on the DNX Twitter account.
