BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Private and government nurses will take turns checking passengers from metropolitan Manila and other islands docking in two major private ports here as President Duterte placed the country’s capital under community quarantine to halt the spread of the COVID19 disease.

Physician Grace Tan, spokesperson of the local COVID task force, told DNX nurses of the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation (BREDCO) will conduct on-shore temperature checks on all disembarking passengers and distribute health forms to be filled up while passengers are still onboard.

The health forms will be filled out by the passengers who are expected to give personal, contact details, and travel history.

Those with red flags, such as travel to countries covered by government bans or flu-like symptoms will be identified on ship and will be referred to health authorities once on land.

A city ambulance outfitted for patient pickup will bring those classified as either under monitoring or under investigation to a medical facility.
