BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The question is: how much is the Philippine Health Insurance Commission’s coverage for a person sick with COVID?
This question was asked repeatedly by a lot of readers who have been sending direct messages to the DNX inbox since last week.
We did some research and found out the following so far:
Patients confirmed with COVID19 who develop into severe illnesses will be compensated as:
Mild pneumonia – P43,997; Moderate pneumonia – P143,267; Severe pneumonia – P333,519; and Critical pneumonia – P786,384.
The new rates are contained in PhilHealth Circular No. 2020-0009, according to an advisory dated 16 April 2020 published on the official PhilHealth website at philhealth.gov.ph.
The release added “The state agency also said that it is now paying for testing based on another circular (No. 2020-0010) which prescribes coverage for Covid-19 tests from P2,710 to as high as P8,150 depending on how the test kits were procured by the accredited testing laboratories.”
