BACOLOD CITY – The councilor-son of lawyer Alex Espino defended his father from claims that he (Alex) announced that Councilor Cindy T. Rojas is planning to run as representative of the lone district, a move that could crack the Grupo Progreso political party.

“He never made a definite statement about that,” the younger Espino told DNX.
He also sent DNX a link to the video recording of the program during which Espino reportedly uttered the statement to which Rojas reacted to.
The morning program Rojas was referring to is the blocktime Save Bacolod: One on One hosted by the elder Espino and broadcaster Rolly Baliguat.
Baliguat was broadcasting live from the dyRL Abyan Radyo studio while Espino was on the phone.
It was at the 14th minute mark of the program that they discussed about the possibility of GP members running for positions against each other, citing as an example former councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan who is now reportedly in hiding abroad after he was linked by President Duterte to illegal drugs.
When Espino offered his “piece of advice” to the public, Baliguat made oblique references to someone but did not specify anyone.
“Nagapati ako nga indi mabuwag ang Grupo Progreso (I believe Grupo Progreso will not fall apart)…” at which point Baliguat cut him and said “even if there are those who want to insist.”
