Patient 89 is gov’t worker; NGC, Old City Hall shut down for disinfection

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The New Government Center as well as the Old City had to be shut down for disinfection after a government employee who was found to be positive of CoViD-19 visited these areas.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, in a video statement furnished to the media, confirmed that Bacolod’s Patient 89 is a government employee and holds office at the Old City Hall.

Patient 89’s office had to be locked down, while the Old City Hall also had to be closed for disinfection. Twenty of his co-workers were also tested, one of whom had to be re-swabbed after coming out positive in a rapid test.

And, since Patient 89 also passed through the Bacolod Art and Youth Center, his companions there – about 20 – had to be swabbed.

Patient 89, it was later found, also visited office in NGC, so the government center had to be shut down for disinfection. Even his home

“There is now intensified contact tracing to trace where he had been,” the mayor said.

Patient 89 and his fellow household members had to be admitted to a health facility, the mayor said.
