IN A NUTSHELL

  • OWWA not spending anymore for RT-PCR tests of returning OFWs
  • Gasataya says he found out about this after he received complaints about delays in the release of RT-PCR tests

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Lone District Cong. Greg Gasataya said a coordination meeting is expected to be held today between the chair of the regional COVID inter-agency task force and the head of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to discuss concerns over testings for returning overseas workers.

Gasataya said solutions are hoped to be found during the meeting today between OWWA chief Hans Cacdac and RIATF chair Jose Robert Nunez after he found out that the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is not paying anymore for the RT-PCR tests of OFWs returning here.

He said Cacdac told him that OWWA, a national agency, is now paying only for the airfare and hotels or other accommodation facilities where the returned overseas workers will be quarantined.
