BACOLOD CITY – Mayors in seven cities and six towns in Negros Occidental have declared suspension of classes at varying levels as Typhoon Tisoy is forecast to bring heavy rains tomorrow.
Provincial disaster chief Zephard Caelian told DNX the city of Escalante and EB Magalona town have declared suspension of classes tomorrow at the pre-school level as mandated by law that suspends pre-school classes once a storm signal is hoisted over a place.
The towns of Toboso, Manapla, Salvador Benedicto, Calatrava, and EB Magalona have all suspended classes in all levels, while Murcia suspends classes for pre-school and kindergarten.
The cities of Escalante, Silay, San Carlos, and Sagay suspended classes for pre-school and kindergarten only, while Cadiz, Talisay, and Victorias suspended classes up to high school.
Victorias City Mayor Frederick Palanca also suspended classes from pre-school to high school in public and private schools while Talisay City Mayor Nilo Jesus Lizares III also ordered a similar suspension.
Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco and Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas have also ordered class suspensions in declarations posted on their town and personal social media accounts.
