Negros Occidental now on red alert vs Agaton

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Capitol has raised the alert status of the provincial disaster risk reduction management council from normal to red.

The raising of the alert status indicates the need for close coordination, monitoring, and consolidation of reports in line with events related to country’s first tropical storm this year codenamed “Agaton.”

This red status immediately took effect 3pm today, 10 April 2022 as ordered through a memo signed by provincial administrator, lawyer Rayfrando Diaz II who signed for and in behalf of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson who chairs the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

Agaton continues to move slowly westward over the coastal waters of Balangiga, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
