BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A fire hits the largest refiner-miller in the country shortly before the start of the milling season, or tiempo suerte. Victorias Milling Company was hit by a blaze yesterday, although management is saying they are still looking into the cause of the blaze in the mill compound.
Fire Officer 2 Alexis Celis told DNX that the fire started at the raw warehouse and clinic of VMC. Celis added that they the incident is still “under investigation”.
The management of Victorias Milling Company said in a statement that the fire at the mill compound happened around 6:40 pm of 27 August 2023, and was contained close to two hours later.
There were no injuries reported arising from the accident.
A video clip from the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade sent to DNX had shown the fire eating up the raw warehouse and clinic of the miller-refiner.
