BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The provincial government of Negros Occidental will send P2 million financial assistance to typhoon-hit provinces of Albay and Catanduanes.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson told Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) to allocate funds for the provinces stricken by Typhoon Rolly.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said the provinces of Albay and Catanduanes will each receive P1 million financial assistance, while the amount to be given to local government units (LGU) affected by Typhoon Ulysses is yet to be determined.
Diaz added that PDRRMC will have an emergency meeting to discuss on the allocation of funds for the typhoon-affected provinces such as Cagayan and Tuguegarao.
“We hope to assist them because in time of need, we should be available to assist the LGUs that were devastated,” he said.
Authorities have estimated P1.19 billion agricultural damage and P469.7 damage to infrastructure left by Typhoon Ulysses that soaked many parts of Luzon, particularly provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.
As of this writing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has recorded 67 deaths due to the recent typhoon.
