BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has signed E.O. 50, 2020, extending the Modified Community Quarantine in the city.
The new order, signed last night 31 July, 2020, has the following salient points:
granular or localized lockdowns in areas with positive cases; a curfew from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. subject to council approval; Sunday closure of three major public markets (North Public Market at Burgos St., South Public Market at Libertad, and the Central Market);
strict home quarantine for those below 21, above 60, with comorbid or immunosuppressed conditions, pregnant, and caregivers of these people; selling and buying of liquor as well as consumption of alcohol in public places.
Earlier, the medical community has asked the city to reconsider placing it under Enhanced Community Quarantine, while the business community balked, saying doing so will have an adverse impact on the economy.
