BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Local immigration head Mita Chuvy Arguelles said proper protocols are being followed in the cold-layup or anchoring of a foreign vessel from a port in China.
“There is no need to panic, proper measures are being observed,” Arguelles told DNX.
She pointed out that based on guidelines issued by Malacanang last week, a temporary entry ban exists for persons of all nationalities directly coming from China.
The San Carlos city disaster office confitmed today that the cargo ship, MV Sea Music, “… apparently from the Port of Ningde in China” will be anchored off the waters of San Carlos City, near the southern coast off Sipaway Island.
San Carlos is a port city around 83 kilometers north of here.
It said the Philippine Coast Guard Substation said that “based on the Notice of Arrival they received around 15 Filipino and six European sailors are on board.”
“However, they are subject to a 14-day medical quarantine to be facilitated by the Bureau of Quarantine of the Department of Health. Therefore, all crew are prohibiteed to disembark from the ship.”
Mayor Rene Gustilo, the CDRRMO report said, “urged the public, particularly fisherfolks, to not go near the ship.”
