It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to receive news of the demise this morning of a dedicated public servant and close friend, Rep. Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco, of the First District of Tarlac.
Congressman Charlie, as the solon is known in the political circle, is the youngest son of the late businessman and Nationalist People’s Coalition chairman Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco, Jr.
Prior to his return to Tarlac, he served as a three-term Congressman of the province’s Fourth District from 1998 to 2007.
He was also elected mayor of Pontevedra town and was catapulted to the presidency of the Negros Occidental Football Association. He became a very visible political figure and sports leader during his stay in Negros.
He will certainly be missed by his family and peers.
Let me and Elsa, therefore, express our deepest sympathies to Congressman Charlie’s wife, China Jocson, children Claudia and Jaime, and to the rest of the Cojuangco family.
Rest easy now my dear friend. Our prayers.
