In Full. Sine Negrense unveils 2023 short film finalists

The Sine Negrense in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the Province of Negros Occidental, the Negros Cultural Foundation and the Negros Museum unveils the competing films under the Open and Intercollegiate Category of the Sine Negrense: Negros Island Film Festival 2023.

The 15 finalists for the open category are 1942 directed by Kent Raven Ardeña; Adela directed by Fredu Bayon-on; Ang Duwa ka Tiniga sa Taytay directed by Junmarl B. Alconga; Ang Handurawan ni Janjan directed by Julius De la Peña; Añoranza directed by Zack Verzosa; Dalit sa Sala directed by Chelsea Tasic; Finding Yesterday directed by Pawlo Lasmarias; Gahaman directed by Jinky Nuñez Alpetche; Grasya directed by Chris Jan Vergara; Kuno Kuno directed by Raven Cheyenne Salanap; Luna directed by Gkie Ere; Manong directed by Ronel Cordero; One Day, Isa Ka Adlaw directed by Vanneza Clear Estañol; Pandayunon directed by Jo-ane Pitogo and Today can’t be Thursday because Thursday was Yesterday directed by Dale Gugudan.

For the intercollegiate category the 15 finalists are Ahh, Sibuyas! directed by Briana Nicole

The 30 short film finalists will be screened during the 2023 Sine Negrense: Negros Island Film Festival, happening on November 21-24 at Cinematheque Centre Negros.

The best short feature film for both categories will be awarded a cash prize and a trophy during the Sine Negrense Awards Night on November 25, 2023.

Sine Negrense: Negros Island Film Festival continues to provide a viable outlet of expression and aims to bring out a new generation of filmmakers and enthusiasts, as well as cultivate an informed public on the importance of Cinema and Storytelling in the context of National Identity, Culture and Heritage.
