BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The Department of Social Services Development is now spearheading the distribution of financial assistance especially to those affected by the pandemic.
A DNX reader who requested anonymity sent pictures showing people lining up for the assistance. He added that they were assured to receive at least P6,000 in assistance, but some received only P1,500.
Social Worker Sally Abelarde of DSSD confirmed to DNX that they have been distributing financial aid to those affected.
She clarified, though, that this is not yet part of the Bayanihan 2 allocation, but is part of the P10 million that the national social services department allocated for Bacolod.
The payment centers are the Masskara Foundation office, at Taculing Gym, and Montevista Gym.
Amounts for assistance vary “depending on the need” Abelarde said, thus the amount varied from P1,500 to P5,000.
“We are making sure to at least spread the sunshine if necessary,” she added.
