BACOLOD CITY – Lone District Cong. Greg G. Gasataya is mulling support for local film makers after two Negrense-made short films landed in the finals of the Metro Manila Film Festival.
“There is relative support and exposure at the provincial level but there is a need for more support at the city level,” Gasataya told DNX after meeting Fredu Bayon-on and some of his production crew members Rodney Jarder Jr. and Alessandra Diaz who met Gasataya.
Bayon-on, a Communication student of the University of St. La Salle, directed Tabako, one of the MMFF finalists.
The solon said one of the handicaps local independent film directors face is the lack of professional-grade equipment and funds.
“I learned this by talking to our young filmmakers,” he said.
