BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The city government is currently monitoring a group of 15 travelers – most of them having developed symptoms, with one already testing positive – as national numbers started rising again.

City Administrator Em Ang told DNX that these individuals and their close contacts will be made to undergo swab test.

Latest report from the Department of Health Western Visayas reveal that Bacolod has currently 25 new cases, 17 of which are local, while seven are Authorized Persons Outside of Residence, and one Locally Stranded Individual.

Ang admitted that the city is growing concerned over the spike in the number of cases.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, she said, had already called for aggressive contact tracing, close monitoring of cases, and immediate extraction of positive cases, as well as immediate testing of the close contacts as counter-measures against the spread.

Bacolod has also implemented, via Executive Order No. 1 of this year, protocols ensuring that one of the requirements upon entry to the city is a negative RT-PCR test, so cases were placed relatively lower than the rest of the country.
