BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The city government has granted the request of the Diocese of Bacolod to reduce curfew hours from 11 pm to 3 am starting tomorrow 16 December to give way for the Simbang Gabi, a Filipino tradition.
Councilor Archie Baribar said the adjusted curfew hours will be implemented until December 31.
Currently, the city implements curfew hours from 11 pm to 4am when it downgrades its status to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon earlier wrote a letter to City Mayor Evelio Leonardia to request for adjustment of the curfew hours so churches can accommodate the faithful for the early morning masses.
In his proposal, Buzon said they can adjust the early morning masses to 3:30am and 5am.
“In these difficult times, the people need more than ever, the Christmas spirit and the Yuletide cheer,” Buzon said.
