BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police here are trying to choke the supply of illegal drugs, especially the poor man’s cocaine or meth with only two days left before the much-touted super version of the Masskara Festival is about to start.
Local police spokesman Sherlock Gabbana told DNX the tight monitoring in the entry of meth or shabu suppliers in seaports has been coupled with checkpoints in areas bordering the city with the cities of Bago in the south, Talisay in the north, and Murcia town to the east to stem the incoming supply meant for an expected rise in demand during the MassKara.
Last Saturday, 24 September 2022, police seized around P4.5M worth of drugs from two High Value Individuals (HVI) in Bata village.
Gabbana said a case was already filed against them.
The following day, P1 million worth of drugs was seized in BREDCO port from an Iloilo City resident.
Guidelines for a local gun ban during the festival are also being finalized, Habana added.
