BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The general manager of local power utility Central Negros Electric Cooperative Inc. (CENECO) has confirmed it will start to refund consumers 15 centavos per kilowatt hour starting this month, June 2022, after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ordered it to do so.
CENECO general manager Ervin Leo Ticar said the refund will be spread over 24 months that is estimated to reach the P237,949,425.51 for CENECO’s over-under recovery filing in 13 years, from 2004 to 2017.
Ticar added the refund will depend on the actual monthly consumption per household.
The distribution firm will refund its consumers, but its Board of Directors decided to file motion for reconsideration to appeal the decision of ERC and to conduct a conference to clarify the results.
CENECO insists that there is a large difference compared to their own computation even if they used the template provided by the Commission upon filing.
It will cost CENECO P 11 Million per month to refund consumers.
