BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The provincial police is bracing for rallies that might be staged by political supporters who cannot accept the outcome of the 9 May polls.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office spox, Lt. Abegael Donasco, told DNX one of the serious threats they are looking into are the possible holding of rallies by supporters of candidates.
She said people might not accept the results of the 2022 general polls but did not specify any candidate or position.
Donasco said this scenario is likely to happen now that rivalries are intensifying. Aside from this, she added that they are also on alert for armed threats due to previous encounters.
However Donasco assured the public the police is on full alert to respond to any of these incidents
She added that all the 1,396 policemen whom they sent to be deployed to 698 precincts are now in their respective city and town police stations.
