BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has discussed measures to “optimize” drug clearing operations as well as the rehabilitation procedures for ex-drug users and pushers in the 61 villages here.
The discussion was attended by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Bacolod City Police office (BCPO), City Health Office (CHO), Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), and Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).
No reporters were invited to cover the meeting.
The talk outlined objectives, one of which is ‘to attain an effective, full-scale drug clearing operation in the entire villages of Bacolod’, ‘encourage Local Government Units (LGUs) to conduct anti-drug related advocacy campaigns’, and ‘to strengthen Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC). “
Part of the discussion was also to reinforce the drug-free workplace ordinance and further develop the Balay Silangan, a community-based, in-house reformation program that rehabilitates drug offenders.
