BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A group of recreational runners here saddened by the death of basketball star Kobe Bryant will take to the streets on a five-kilometer run this evening to try to shake off their sorrow since this morning over the death of the Black Mamba.
Run organizer John Julien Gadian told DNX the run is a way to lift the spirits of his fellow runners under Team Tuyaw (hex in Hiligaynon) who have been deeply affected by Bryant’s death in a helicopter crash in California, USA.
The group takes off 6pm, 27 January from the Capitol Lagoon here.
He said most of his team members are fans of Bryant, the LA Lakers star whose exploits as a basketball player and as a humanitarian are celebrated globally.
Those who will join the run will wear black or jersey shirts in honor of Bryant.
“We are fans of Kobe because of his positive approach to basketball and because he is good at it,” Gadian added.
Other running clubs expected to join are Bacolod Afternoon Recreational, Runners, D’Hamsters, Bacolod Road Stallions, Team Himamaylan, and Team Awa.
