Army starts training for fresh boots

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The Army’s regional command has started to train more than 200 candidates as fresh grunts as government continues with its campaign against insurgents.

Third Division public affairs officer, Captain Kim Apitong confirmed in a news release that 228 Candidate Soldiers (CS) started their 16-week Basic Military Training on 8 June 2022 at the Third Infantry (Spearhead) Division Training School at Camp General Macario Peralta Jr. in Jamindan town, Capiz, a province in the neighboring island of Panay.

The trainees are “composed of people who were chosen from the thousands of aspirants” who have gone through almost three months on the application phase.

The release said, they came from different parts of the Western Visayas (WV) region who applied with the division headquarters, and two other units – the 3rd Installation Management Battallion and 53rd Engineering Brigade.

The training will teach the soldiers the core values and the basic foundations of soldiery of the Philippine Army.

The oath-taking of the members of the Candidate Soldier Course Class 725-2022 was led by Major General Benedict M Arevalo, 3ID Commander.
