BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A godson of La Castellana town Mayor Alme Rhummyla Mangilimutan who also describes himself as a trusted aide of the last termer chief executive has filed a slew of complaints before various government agencies alleging, among others, corruption and bigamy by Mangilimutan.

These claims, however, were described by Mangilimutan, a former police officer, as “recycled” and “politically motivated,” a creation of people who she said are out to tarnish her image and that of her family, a political clan in the southern town.

“Uli-ay ni kandila (I will return the candle),” Elvin dela Fuente told DNX in a phone interview from Manila where he said he had been living after the 2019 polls.

The phrase refers to severing ties with a godparent by a godson.

Dela Fuente told DNX the three separate complaints he has filed so far have all been received this month – a charge for violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act before the Office of the Ombudsman received last 12 July 2024;

A request before the Philippine Senate received last 9 July 2024 to look into the lifestyle of Mangilimutan;
