Alleged rebel leader, assassin killed in Isabela town clash

ISABELA, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – An alleged rebel leader of the New People’s Army and an assassin were killed in an encounter with government troopers in village of Amin, Isabela town today.

Killed was suspected rebel leader Virgilio Marco Tamban alias Bedam, commanding officer of Platoon Lenovo, and a still unidentified rebel. Another member was captured.

Recovered were two caliber .45 handgun and one hand grenade.

The rebels were engaged in a clash with the 62nd Infantry Battalion troopers doing preemptive strike against insurgents I the area.

A press release from the Philippine Army revealed that the encounter involved 10 rebels whose presence were reported by residents in the area

This resulted in the gunfight that killed two and led to the capture of another

Those killed were the primary suspects in recent murders of Jay Maykel Ledesma at Macagahay village, Moises Padilla town last 2 March, 2022; Crish John Guyha last 28 February 28, 2022 at Luz village, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental; Lucio and Tony Perater last 16 February 16, 2022 at their in Malangsa village, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental; and Heide Boca, former CAFGU last 19 February 19, 2022 at Santol village Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
