BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Negros Occidental Acting Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, chairperson of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has raised Code Blue over the province, ordering city and municipal disaster risk reduction management councils to be on “full alert” as Tropical Storm Ursula barrels its way here.

Ferrer, in a memo to all disaster management councils, has also ordered a Code White for all 11 district hospitals, and the Provincial Health Office to ensure full preparedness of medical and health personnel.

An LGU under code blue means a considerable percentage of its disaster-preparedness units and equipment will be on full alert and ready for deployment.
A Code White Alert, on the other hand, refers to the readiness of hospital and medical staff to respond to any emergency situation.
Under Code White, all hospital staff, administration, and personnel are on-call round-the-clock for immediate mobilization.
