The Army’s 3rd Infantry Division was awarded with Commanding General Philippine Army Streamer for decisive combat operation on 22 March, 2022.
This is after 16 alleged New People’s Army rebels were killed, with four firearms recovered on 1 December 2021 in a clash against government troopers in Alimodias village Miag-ao, Iloilo.
Government was able to recover from the encounter site three M-16 rifles, an AK-47 assault rifle, four land mines, a hand grenade, projector, detonating cords, and several subversive documents with high intelligence value.
The streamer was personally received by Major General Benedict M Arevalo, 3ID Commander, during the 125th Philippine Army Anniversary held at Headquarters Philippine Army Grandstand, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Arevalo, in his message, expressed his gratitude as he recognized all Spearhead Troopers for their “selfless service and dedication which brought distinct pride and honor to the Command”.
He also said that the award will serve as an inspiration and motivation to all Spearhead Troopers as they continue to perform their best in serving the country, even beyond their line of duty.
“This award is also dedicated to the peace loving people of Western and Central Visayas, they serve as our inspiration in our unflinching commitment in serving the people and securing the land,” said MGen Arevalo.
