BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Former rebels here have confirmed to DNX that the two Communist terrorists found dead after a clash in the upland village of Buenavista in Himamaylan City were actually a married couple who took their nom de guerres after a pandemic and left behind two young daughters, four and five with their death.

“The Communist terrorists did it again, deceiving people with their worthless cause leadimg them to meaningless death snd leaving their children orphans,” Ka Aya told DNX more than a week after the bodies of “Covid” and “19” were found in Pisok, a mountain community in the village of Buenavista after a a band of remnants of the dismantled Central Negros Front 2 clashed with soldiers of the 94th Infantry Battalion.

Aya, a former ranking cadre of the defumct front who gave up to the 94th, said the two were actually Joan Lacio Encncion (Encarnacion in an Army dispatch), the husband, and Jolina Martinez Sergio, the wife

Encancion was vice commander of the Sentro De Grabidad platoon while Sergio was the political instructor.

Aya said both based their codenames from the COVID19 pandemic after they took a break from rebel work in 2019 when the pandemic was raging and rejoined the front in 2020.

She added Encancion was a former militiaman who went AWOL after his superior caught him sleeping on duty while Sergio was actually the daughter of a former mass organizer.

Sergio, she also said, was recruited into the armed underground after becoming a youth organizer.

Encancion, meanwhile, used to lead a squad in doing “expansion” or “consolidation” work for the front while Sergio’s task is described by the CPP as mainly ensuring that all policies and decisions of the CPP are followed.

As this developed, former rebel liaison Roy Moreno bared that Sergio was also a victim of sexual abuse even before she went fulltime in the guerrilla unit.

Moreno told DNX Sergio was sexually abused by Ka Andres, a former unit commander under CN2 in the summer of 2007.

Moreno, who had earlier confessed to be a liaison of the NPA with Paghiliusa Sa Kauswagan Development Group (PDG), which calls itself a non profit, said he and 19, also called Chloe, used to be part of a mass work unit doing propaganda and recruitment among farmers.

He claimed the abuse happened inside a house where Chloe and Andres slept in sometime in April or May of that year.

Moreno also said the punishment for the offense was supposedly death but the NPA simply reassigned Andres after seeing he had command potential.
