BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Inter-Agency Task Force chairperson and Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran encouraged the public to learn to live with the virus now that a new variant has been discovered in the United States.
Familiaran also called on the public to double up efforts and observance of health safety protocols now that the Department of Health Western Visayas has placed the city under a high risk classification and alert level 3.
Familiaran called the DOH 6 classification “alarming”, as he called on the public to wear double masks, double the distance in social distancing, as well as observe proper hygiene at all times.
The vice-mayor added that there appears to be no end to the pandemic, especially with the new variant coming out in the United States, which is why the public should learn to live with the virus.
As this developed, the Department of Health Region 6 has classified Bacolod City as high risk area with alert level 3 for COVID-9.
The DOH regional office, in its report as quoted by the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, classified Bacolod City as a high risk area for COVID-19 transmission.
The data shows that there has been an increasing trend on the cases for the last two weeks, with a 23 percent growth rate, daily attack rate of 8. The city also has a positivity rate of almost 24 percent from 28 August to 3 September 2021.
