BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca has been “discharged” from isolation after doctors found him “clinically stable” and is in no need of further quarantine, his councilor-son, Derek, told DNX.
Mayor Palanca tested positive for COVID on 4 November and was confined in a health facility before he spent several days more in a government-run quarantine center in one of the public schools in Victorias City.
“The family was worried his symptoms could progress to pneumonia but fortunately it did not; his oxygen levels were normal all throughout,” the younger Palanca told DNX.
Despite his confinement, the younger Palanca said his father continued to tend to his tasks as mayor of the city around 37 kilometers north from here.
Councilor Derek Palanca was also isolated at the North Elementary School after he was swabbed but was discharged earlier after he tested positive.
