BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Former solons Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and Monico Puentevella, former Vice-Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and ex-councilors Lyndon Cana, Ricardo “Cano” Tan, and Jocelle Sigue are among the choices of the opposition here from which it can pick a mayoral candidate to support against the ruling Grupo Progreso party.
Lone opposition Councilor Wilson “Jun” Gamboa Jr. told DNX the six former officials, “who have experience in public service” are among the “probables” from which groups opposed to the dominant party can take their pick.
Gamboa also confirmed he is part of efforts to put up a unified opposition that might be composed of traditional political blocs like the Maghiliusa Kita Sa Kauswagan of Puentevella, Batapa’s One Bacolod, and progressive and cause oriented groups.
Gamboa added he is also “making myself available” as one of the choices.
