BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A tropical depression that has been brewing outside of PAR now accelerates while maintaining its strength.

It may enter the Philippine territory between Sunday night and Monday morning and will be named “Ursula”, PAGASA’s Tropical Cyclone Advisory #1 as of 11 a.m. today said.
TD is forecast to make landfall between Eastern Visayas and Caraga area on Tuesday (24 December) evening or Wednesday (25 December) early morning.
The center of the weather disturbance was sighted at 1,855 km East of Mindanao.
It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, with gusts of up to 60 km/h. It moves at west at 40 km/h.
It will traverse the Visayas area. Beginning Tuesday (24 December), moderate to occasionally heavy rains may prevail over Visayas and northeastern Midanao, the advisory adds.
The advisory says that the Tropical Depression (TD) “has no direct effect on any part of the country at the moment”.
The weather bureau advises the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to monitor for the next update on this weather disturbance.
