BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Three corpses left behind in the fields in two cities here are now baffling policemen as the first month of 2023 draws to a close.
The apparently gory murders, one here and the two others in Kabankalan, a city 160 kilometers south of here, are now being probed by police.
The Bacolod case, a man whose body was found leaning on a tree in Simon Peter Village early in the morning yesterday, 27 January 2023, came as police are still trying to resolve the mystery of a severed pair of hands floating in meat broth holding a piece of paper on which 22 names were written.
Captain Elmer John Bonilla, who heads the probe on the case, told DNX Henry Paul Bombate’s body was left in a seated position leaning against a tree in a grassy field far from houses in the residential community.
Bombate’s legs were bound together, and his eyes and mouth covered – all by duct tape,an indication, Bonilla said that the victim knew his killers.
He added Bombate could have been killed elsewhere and the killers could have only left his body in Simon Peter Village.
The probability loomed after probers noted there were no spent shell casings or slugs at the scene where Bombate’s body was found, indications that a gun was fired.
Bombate was identified by relatives who went to the funeral parlor where he was brought by police.
Police records showed he was busted by Station 3 operatives in 2019 for peddling drugs and has struck a plea bargain deal for which he is under probation.
Over at Kabankalan City, police found two bodies in a sugarcane field in Barangay (village) 6 in the city proper.
The police report said one of the victims was a child whose body had 26 stab wounds while the other, a man aged 22,had 17.
Both were in black shirts and shorts and were found near.
Police said they were both residents of Binicuil village but did not disclose their names yet.
