SUV, ambulance collide; 1 killed, 4 injured

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) hit an ambulance, killing one person and injuring four others on Wednesday, 11 November at San Sebastian-Lacson Streets.

Police Investigation showed that the SUV was from west to east, crossing Lacson St. when it hit the ambulance heading from south to north.

The ambulance then hit the delivery van that resulted to multiple collision.

According to Police Major Jovil Sedel, chief of Police Station 1, the driver of the SUV, Kenny Arillo, 21 years old, might have lost control while driving the vehicle.

The driver of the ambulance, Jessie James Tranilla, was brought to the Corazon Locsin Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The injured were identified as Maria Cajeras, 30 years old; Jose Francisco Sombero, 34; Vicente Limaco, 78; and Genesis Graellos, 32.

Police held Arillo for possible charge of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
