Suspected robbers of Kabankalan vice-mayor fall to geolocation technology as cops nab three alleged sex fiends

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A woman and her two male cohorts who allegedly stole two smartphones of Kabankalan City Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco fell to police. The reason: they did not know the geolocator feature of the two phones had been turned on.

The police said the three suspects who are all in their 30s – Rose Linao, Wowie Uy, and Melvin Cosio – stole the two phones of Zayco during revelries for the city’s Charter Day, yesterday evening, 2 August 2022.

The police said they were able to track and arrest the suspects to Su-ay village in neighboring Himamaylan City that same night.

The report added the phones, an iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, both had their an Global Positioning System or GPS features turned on.

Meanwhile, three suspected sex fiends were arrested, one each in the cities of Bago and Sagay, and in Pontevedra town.

The Bago Police reported the arrest of Ramel Santibañe, 27, married, for the cases of rape and sexual abuse.

In the neighboring town of Pontevedra, another married man, Mark Ortega, 31, was nabbed for the alleged crime of sexual abusing a minor.

The Sagay City Police also arrested 50-year-old Serfenio Padernal, another married man for raping a minor.
