Soldiers turn over bodies of slain suspected rebels to families

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The remains of the two alleged rebels who were killed in an encounter in the village of Amin, Isabela were turned over to their families at the Leo Memorial Chapel in Rumirang village last Thursday.

Earlier, an alleged rebel leader and an assassin of the New People’s Army were killed in a clash with the 62nd Infantry Battalion.

The Guihulngan City and Isabela Task-Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict facilitated the turnover of the remains of alleged hitman Virgilio Tamban alias “Kumander Bedam”, commanding officer of Platoon Lenovo under Leonardo Panaligan Command New Peoples Army, and Ben Jack Rueles aka “Ka Yuhan”, member of Regional Striking Force.

The bodies were claimed by their immediate family and brought to their respective residences.

The family of the two rebels expressed their gratitude for the proper handling of the bodies by the Local Task Force-ELCAC.
