BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – An Army general here has confirmed that up to a total of six persons could have been killed and four soldiers wounded in a late afternoon skirmish in the upland sub-village of Tiyos, Quentin Remo village in Moises Padilla town.
Brigadier General Innocencio Pasaporte told DNX the 45-minute gunfight started around 3:45pm when soldiers under two battallions – the 62nd and 79th – clashed with a group of rebels whose presence was reported by the residents.
Six soldiers were wounded in action and were airlifted to hospitals. Two of these troopers later died while the four others are still being treated for their wounds.
Soldiers saw four dead bodies being dragged by fleeing rebels, Pasaporte also said.
