SIM Registration: A How-To Guide

Have you had your SIM registered yet?  The SIM Card Registration Act has required mobile phone users to register their SIM Cards.

The following guidelines have been released by the three major telecom companies: Globe, Smart, and DITO for SIM registration.

The following are the steps for Globe Subscribers, according to the official website of Globe Telecom

  1. Access the SIM registration website.
  2. Enter your 10-digit mobile number and click the “Register” button.
  3. If eligible to register, you’ll receive a One Time Pin (OTP) text message on your mobile phone.
  4. Enter the 6-digit OTP on the registration website.  The OTP expires in five minutes.
  5. After your OTP validation, you may now proceed with the registration.
  6. Enter all required fields: Name, Birthday, Gender, Address, and Nationality
  7. Take a selfie and select the type of government ID to be uploaded.
  8. Click the “attach” button to upload a copy of your valid government ID.
  9. Tick the checkbox to agree with Globe’s Privacy Notice and Attestation of Completeness and Accuracy.
  10. Click “Submit” button to finish the registration process.
  11. A reference number will appear on your screen to signify completion of registration.
  12. Keep the reference number as proof of registration.

For Smart Subscribers, do the following steps

  1. Go to the simreg.smart.com.ph portal.
  2. Input your Smart Number on the registration window provided, and click Send OTP.
  3. Complete your profile information.
  4. Enter the OTP sent to your phone and information and attach a copy of a valid government ID.
  5. Wait for an SMS confirmation.
  6. Hold on to your Control Number as this could be needed for future references.

DITO subscribers, according to its website, can register starting 27 December 2022. New subscribers can register through an SMS link sent after SIM card insertion while existing subscribers can register by clicking the SIM Registration banner in the DITO app.

Subscribers are advised to take a photo or screenshot of the successful registration page for reference.

Subscribers should provide their personal information:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Present / Official Address
  • Accepted IDs
  • Any government-issued ID of the parent or guardian
  • Consent of minor’s parent or guardian to register the SIM card

For businesses, requirements are as follows:

  • SEC / DTI Certificate of Registration
  • Board Resolution designating the authorized representative or a Special Power of Attorney (SPA)

For tourists:

  • Passport
  • Proof of Address in the Philippines
  • Return ticket to own country showing date/time of departure from the Philippines

For foreigners with non-tourist visa:

  • Passport
  • Proof of Address in the Philippines
  • Other pertinent documents such as:
    1. Alien Employment Permit issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); 
    2. Alien Certificate of Registration Identification Card (ACRI Card) issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) or other types of official ID issued by any other visa-issuing agency;
    3. School registration and ID for students; or

For Persons of Concern or POCs, the type of travel or admission document validly issued by the Department of Justice.
