The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (CoviD-19) cases in the Philippines has exceeded the 44,000 mark on Sunday after the Department of Health (DOH) reported a record-high 2,434 cases. This was again separated into “fresh” and “late” cases with 1,147 and 1,287 reported, respectively – bringing the total to 44, 254.
The DOH also said 489 more patients have recovered, bringing the total to 11, 942 and seven people dead, bringing the death toll to 1,297.
The Philippines continues to be the third-highest number of COVID-19 cases across Southeast Asia, trailing behind Indonesia with 62,142 infections and Singapore with 44,664.
National and International Health authorities continue to enforce the general population that the same prevention methods must be applied at all costs. Wearing of facemasks, proper hand washing, avoiding touching the face and social distancing.
