FIRST UPDATE | BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — At least seven COVID patients here are complaining about the alleged “dirty” room of a quarantine facility here run by the city government.
Ellen (not her real name) told DNX the room at the Bacolod City National High School where she and six other members of her family was largely unkept when they were brought there Friday last week to spend the 14-day isolation period after they were tested positive for COVID.
“The window panes were full of dust, the comfort room was dirty,” she narrated. The nurse on duty at the facility told them to clean the comfort room, which they did, she said.
Ellen and her family are residents of a sub-village in the coastal barangay of Banago, one of the areas here with high COVID incidents.
She added they have no other complaints except for the cleanliness of the room.
Food is not a problem, she said and in fact “all we do here is eat and sleep.”
Ellen added they are all “feeling well” already and have not been showing any symptoms.
The BCNHS facility is one of 11 isolation centers being operated by the local government to isolate and treat COVID-infected patients.
ACTION ASSURED
City Administrator Em Ang assured the complaining residents, however, that she will refer the matter to the officials responsible.
Ang told DNX she will call the attention of the facility head and will make sure thus reaches the attention of officials heading the city-level committee.
The Quarantine Centers Action Team is headed by Councilor Renecito Novero who was appointed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to help oversee the quarantine facilities being run by the city.
