BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — Residents of the Victoria Street in Eroreco here are appealing to Mandalagan village chief Arturo Parreño to isolate Patient 7 from the rest of the community and instead place him under isolation in a medical facility.

The letter, sent by Pueblo Rosario Homeowners Association Inc. President Arturo Manuel Teruel, Jr. and signed by concerned residents of the street expressed concern over the fact the Patient 7, who has been placed under strict “room quarantine” was seen in his balcony and without using his face mask.

Officials also revealed that the patient even contested the presence of an outpost, which in ultra-risk areas should be placed directly outside of the home. The outpost is instead transferred 25-meters away from his home.

“As COVID 19 is declared a global pandemic… we have every reason to be anxious and afraid knowing that a resident in our community is a COVID-positive case,” the letter said.

The letter added that the situation was aggravated by the fact that not only was Patient 7 placed under “room quarantine” but that he has “grossly violated” the conditions of his quarantine “despite repeated demands from the security”.

Meanwhile physician Grace Tan, spokesperson of the local COVID19 inter-agency task force told DNX that she has already called Patient 7, who health authorities had earlier described as asymptomatic, and reminded him about the quarantine conditions.

She said he agreed to comply.

Luis Roberto Gonzales, a resident of the street, told DNX Patient 7 had repeatedly violated conditions that he stay inside their house, isolated from two other occupants.

He added he and other residents worry because there are a lot of elderly people living in Victoria Street.
