Police Roundup | Drug busts mark opening of last week of March as it leads into the Semana Santa

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The arrest of three construction workers and a jobless man in the city of Kabankalan was among the busts made by police in the province as the last week of March leads into the Semana Santa and expected sweltering heat of summer.

The consolidated police report from Camp Montelibano, usually slim on Mondays, contained at least 10 entries, several of which were about drug busts, arrests for rape, homicide, and carnapping, among others.

The Kabankalan Police reported the arrest around 9am yesterday, 27 March 2023, of Antonio Pineda alias Antik, jobless, the alleged maintainer of a drug den in Barangay 6 along with three construction workers, all in their 20s – Kent John Lisas, Georgie Imdac, and Alexis Besas.

The joint team composed of police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives seized at least 10 grams of suspected meth with sn estimated street price of P68,000.

In a separate operation, Kabankalan police also arrestes Jesus Utana Y Julian @and Xutela Jane Dela Cruz who were seen actung unessy and tried to evade the a police checkpoint by turning their motorcycle away from the police officers.

The arresting officers stopped them and asked for their license, motorcycle documents, and personally identified the driver as Jesus Utana.

The team came nearer to them and saw that the driver got down from the motorcycle and pretended to urinate at the side of the road.

The arresting officers saw in plain view that the suspect was throwing a black purse on his right side.

Upon checking the black purse, it was found to contain several items, including an improvised glass tooter, an improvised plastic straw scoop, five small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance of suspected shabu.
