BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police probing the abduction of a hog raiser snatched in the neighboring city of Bago seem to have been led to a seemingly wild goose chase as they look for leads in three areas.
Close to a month after Johnson Garfiel was abducted in broad daylight in Abuanan village, Bago City, police have yet to get solid leads on the motive for the crime.
Bago police chief, Lt. Joem Malong, told DNX probers have already gone to La Carlota, the city where Garfiel lives to inquire from his relatives about him.
There, probers were told by his wife that Garfiel, who was also reported to be facing a rape charge, that someone owed him P300,000.
Malong said they went to the town where this person reportedly lives but could not locate the individual.
He did not give additional details.
“We still lack vital information,” Malong added.
