BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Bacolod Cong. Greg Gasataya revealed that 98,143 families will be receiving the P6,000 through the Social Amelioration Program today.
The congressman said the subsidy was part of the provisions of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act that was discussed during an online session last 24 March, and later signed by President Duterte.
The Act explicitly states that 18 million low-income families will receive the subsidy for the months of April and May.
Gasataya said while he respects the criticisms and reservations of constituents against granting Duterte emergency powers, he opted to vote in favor of the bill knowing it can provide relief to people who need it most in the midst of the COVID crisis.
Gasataya also thanked the other government agencies and officials including the President, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the LGUs, and barangay officials who helped facilitate the release of the subsidy.
