BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – As the health system here appears headed for a breakdown, Mayor Evelio Leonardia will lead a consultative meeting Monday, 17 August, as part of steps to come up with adjusted measures or new approaches to the continuing COVID crisis.
Vice-Mayor El Cid Familiaran told DNX the virtual conference will gather medical, business and spiritual leaders whom Leonardia will consult through an online meeting as community-transmitted cases here continue to rise and as medical frontliners are increasingly being infected.
The inter-agency task force here that the city had breached more than 500 cases yesterday, 300 of which are “active.”
Most of confirmed cases so far since last month are local infections.
