No evidence: COVID-19 still has no wings

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The health department said there is still “no evidence” that the new strain of coronavirus is already airborne.

The 2019-nCoronavirus or now known as COVID-19 was said to have been transmitted through respiratory droplets or droplets every time an infected person sneezes, coughs, or breathes out.

DOH Assitant Secretary for Health Policy and Systems Development, Kenneth Ronquillo said actions were made to confirm if the virus is airborne or not, and according to the World Health Organization, there are still “no conclusive evidence” to prove such.

DOH, as of Monday, 12 February 2020, still did not receive any more information from WHO about the issue.

The department, however, continues to urge everyone to follow precautionary measures in order to avoid the disease.

As of 11 February, there are 43,103 confirmed cases worldwide, 42,103 in China, and 395 in other parts of the world.

There are 196 persons under investigation (PUIs) , in the country, tested negative of the virus, while 183 PUIs are still waiting for the results.
