BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Capitol has raised to Code Blue the readiness status over this province of 2.5 million people as a severe tropical storm barrels its way across the country and is expected to hit land over the weekend or next week here.
Capitol executive Rayfrando Diaz II told DNX the storm codenamed Auring, the first weather disturbance to enter the country, looks headed for northern Negros, parts of which face the Visayan Sea.
Diaz said blue alert was prompted by the raising of Auring’s strength to severe tropical storm.
Blue is the second highest alert level of Capitol and instantly triggers coordinations between the provincial government and national agencies for the repositioning of manpower and supplies.
The Capitol official added food supplies and other added needs of those who might be affected by the storm are on standby.
